Miami Ohio RedHawks at Kent St. Golden Flashes 2:00 PM ET One game separates three teams in the MAC East and two of those squads square off on Saturday. Miami and Kent St. both come into this huge game with impressive runs going. If the RedHawks can win on the road, there will potentially be a three-way tie for first place heading into the final week. A Kent St. win keeps it in first place with a showdown next Saturday at Akron likely to decide the championship. Miami has won seven in a row including a big home win over Akron on Wednesday that put it in a second place tie with the Zips. This could potentially be a problem spot for the RedHawks who are a respectable 6-6 on the road but have not traveled since February 4th, a span of three weeks. The comforts of home might have gotten a little too familiar for Miami as it heads to one of the toughest venues in the conference. The Golden Flashes have won four straight to keep a hold on first place and this will be their toughest stretch of the season. Following Miami, Kent St. faces Ohio and Akron, the only three teams in the division with a winning conference record. The Golden Flashes are 10-2 at home this season with a surprising loss to Bowling Green being the most recent setback since an opening loss to MEAC leader Delaware St. Kent St. handed Miami one of its two home losses this season back in January so the RedHawks will be looking for some payback. Its never easy to attain on the road, especially in a game that is so crucial for both teams. Kent St. has covered seven of its 10 games at home against the number while Miami is a very solid 8-2-1 ATS on the road this season. Something has to give in what should turn out to be a barnburner. Kansas Jayhawks at Texas Longhorns 9:00 PM ET It doesnt get any bigger in the Big XII than this. Everyone knew Texas would be on top at this point but Kansas has been a huge surprise. In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, the Jayhawks are right there once again. It is officially a two-team race for the regular season championship as the winner of this game takes over sole possession of first place heading into the final week of the season. Kansas started the season rather slow going 3-4 in its first seven games but it has been nearly unbeatable since. The Jayhawks have gone 17-2 in their last 19 games with both losses being games they should have won. A home loss to Kansas St. was a huge shock while an overtime loss at Missouri was tough to take as Kansas blew a seven-point lead with 30 seconds remaining. The Longhorns have struggled in their last two games, losing at Oklahoma St. by 21 points and then escaping at Kansas St. by a single point on Wednesday. Texas returns home however where it is 14-1 on the season including a 6-0 record in Big XII play along with a victory against Villanova in the mix. The conference wins havent been close as Texas won those six games by an average of 25.3 ppg. Kansas is 5-1 in true road games this year with the aforementioned loss at Missouri being the only setback. The Jayhawks have what it takes to get the job done on the road but this is easily their toughest test of the season. Not only is it tough to win in Austin but it is even more difficult facing a Texas team coming off two subpar efforts. The 1st ranked Kansas defense will not make things easy for Texas however. Nevada Wolf Pack at Utah St. Aggies 9:00 PM ET In order to keep hold of first place in the WAC as well as a national ranking, the Wolf Pack will need to fend off conference newcomer Utah St. The Aggies are a game behind Nevada with three games remaining and a win here would likely give it the crown. Utah St. won the first meeting so a series sweep would give it the tiebreaker if the two finish the season with identical 12-4 records. Utah St. is 12-1 at home this season, the one defeat coming at the hands of New Mexico St. which was a real shocker. As a matter of fact, two of its four conference losses have been against New Mexico St. which are its only two losses in its last 12 games. Included in that run was a win at Nevada, the only home loss the Wolf Pack have suffered all season long. Nevada is 9-3 on the road this season including four straight in WAC games. A lot of those wins arent cupcake victories as they include Pacific, UNLV and most impressively, Kansas. The conference road wins have not been overly dominating against much weaker competition however. Nevada closes the regular season with two home games so a win over the Aggies all but assures the regular season WAC title. This could be considered one of the biggest games in Utah St. history due to the fact that this is its first year in the WAC. The Aggies have the second best shooting percentage in the country and the top percentage from behind the arc and those numbers only get better at home. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Larry_Ness]Larry Ness It's rare that the NIT 'steals' the headlines from the NCAA tournament but that may be the case tonight as Hall of Fame head coach John Chaney announced his retirement last night, while the NCAA's big news is its play-in game. Chaney has coached for 34 years (24 at Temple) winning 741 games (516-252 at Temple). Only four active coaches own more career wins than Chaney and he's taken Temple to the NCAA tourney 17 times. My free play for Tuesday is on Fairleigh Dickinson over Manhattan at 7:00 ET. Join me tonight for another 15* play in the NBA (now 7-3 since Feb 3) and in college hoops, for my 20* NIT Opening Round GOY (4-2 last week with my 20* tourney Games of the year). Unfortunately, he'll also be remembered for the fact that he owns the most NCAA tournament wins by any coach to have not reached the Final Four (23). Chaney took Temple to five Regional Finals (the last of which was in 2001), losing all five times! His 40 career NCAA games ranks him third behind only Guy Lewis (44) and Eddie Sutton (65) for most tournament games without a Final 4 trip. Temple's appearance tonight in the NIT (the Owls host Akron), marks the school's fifth consecutive NIT appearance, not good news for a school that was once an NCAA regular. The NIT (now owned and run by the NCAA) begins tonight with a 16-team, eight-game opening round. Once the most prestigious tournament in college basketball, the NIT is now the one event no team wants to be back in, as defending champs. That distinction is held by South Carolina this year. The Gamecocks won this title last year and came within a 49-47 loss to Florida in the SEC title game on Sunday, of not returning as the defending champs. South Carolina begins its "unwanted defense" tomorrow vs Western Ky. In a change just this year, schools that won their regular season titles but lost in their respective conference tourneys, were guaranteed bids to this year's NIT. Delaware State (MEAC), Fairleigh Dickinson (NEC), Ga Southern (Southern), Manhattan (MAAC), Northern Arizona (Big Sky) and Western Ky (SBC) were the six schools that benefited this year. As mentioned earlier, Western Ky opens tomorrow against South Carolina but the other five regular season champs all play tonight. Fairleigh Dickinson is at Manhattan, Delaware St at Northern Arizona and Ga Southern is at NC-Charlotte. ESPNU carries Rutgers at Penn St (8:00 ET) and ESPN has Virginia at Stanford (9:30 ET) The NIT has four No. 1 seeds this year and they are Cincinnati, Maryland, Michigan and Louisville. Hofstra (24-6) has the most wins of any NIT participant which also gives them the distinction of having the most wins of any team not in the NCAA tournament. The Pride will host Nebraska on Thursday. Missouri St, with an RPI of 21, owns the distinction of owning the highest rating of any team in this year's NIT which also means the Bears own the highest RPI of any school not in the NCAAs! The Bears don't play their first game until Friday. For the first time in five years, the NCAA's play-in game does not include a school with a losing record. Interestingly, those sub-.500 teams went a perfect 4-0 SU and ATS the last four years in the play-in game. Tonight, it's 18-14 Monmouth versus 16-15 Hampton (7:30 ET on ESPN). Monmouth is a deep team (nine players average double digits in minutes) but just two players average double-digits in scoring. Hampton had lost six of seven games to end the regular season but then beat the MEAC's No. 3 and No. 1 seeds to take the conference tourney. Monmouth is favored by four points with a total of 124 1/2. In Monday's NBA, the Pacers beat the Magic 97-83. Orlando has now lost 19 of its last 23 games. Keeping up with the Magic are the Knicks, who lost for the 24th time in their last 28 games last night (108-96 to the Nuggets). The Nets won 90-77 in Houston, as the Rockets fell to 1-15 without Tracy McGrady. Adding insult to injury, David Wesley, the only Rocket to have played in every game this season, missed his first game of the season last night after getting hurt against the Spurs on Sunday. The T-wolves may not be in the class of the Magic and Knicks but they did lost their fifth straight game last night at the Clippers (95-87), giving them their 19th loss in their last 22 road games. Tonight's NBA features a nine-game schedule. The Mavs and Spurs (tied at 49-14) are both home tonight, with Dallas hosting Cleveland at 8:35 ET (Mavs are favored by 7 1/2 points with a total of 187) and San Antonio hosting the Hornets also at 8:35 ET (Spurs are favored by 10 1/2 points with a total of 179 1/2). The Lakers eliminated the Kings in the playoffs in each of their three championship years (2000-02) but these days, these two former Western Conference powers are battling at the bottom of the playoff 'picture'. The Lakers (7th) lead the Kings (8th) by a half-game and the Kings are just a half-game ahead of the 9th-seeded Hornets. However, Sacramento takes a 12-game home winning streak (9-0 SU and ATS with Artest) into its game with the Lakers tonight at Arco (10:05 ET). The Kings are favored by seven points with a total of 204. In Seattle, the Sonics host the Suns at 10:05 ET. The last time these teams met was Jan 22 in Phoenix and in that game, the Sonics beat the Suns in double-overtime, 152-149. The 301 points scored marked the highest scoring NBA game since 1995. The two teams also combined for an NBA single-game record by making 32 three-pointers. The Suns have won eight of their last 10 games on the road, while the Sonics are playing much better since the break, going 5-5 SU and 7-3 ATS. By Michael Chan I was one of the pioneer batches in Singapore trained for Sexuality Education, and I think it was quite amazing that Ive steered clear of this subject thus far. I think it is important, though, for all children to learn and accept themselves as they are, and so I come up with this article to help parents and educators on this aspect of a person's sexuality. For those who are thinking of trashy stuff, sorry to disappoint you - Sexuality Education is not Sex Education. Sex Education teaches about the physical and perhaps emotional aspects of coitus, and touches on topics like contraception and so on. Sexuality Education includes Sex Education, but thats not the focus - the focus is on the persons values and his ability to relate to himself and others in the chosen sexual orientation. Singapore, unlike western countries, treaded cautiously on this subject. Plenty of religious and community leaders were consulted before the Ministry of Education finally decided we will do Sexuality Education rather than Sex Education. With values being such an important part of Sexuality Education, ideas like abstinence and protecting our bodies took a stronger centre stage rather that telling the kids how to use condoms to make sure they dont get pregnant, since (not if!) they want to have sex at that age. The issue of androgyny is an interesting one nowadays. With the rise of the Sensitive New Age Man (SNAG) in the magazines, and the prevalence of manga and anime from Japan (where the lead characters tend towards androgyny as well), such a man or woman has become more and more accepted in society. Androgyny is a state where a man displays certain traits (physical or emotional) that society attributes towards women, or where a woman displays certain traits (physical or emotional) that society atttributes towards men. It comes from a combination of the Greek andros (man) and gyne (woman). I am an example of an androgynous man. Im most definitely a man (and not only because of my sexual organs!) but I display openly many behaviours that society attributes towards women. I am quite emotional, tears quite easily and speaks gently in a measured tone (one of the contractors I used to work with when I was in the Navy said that Ive a sweet voicenow thats scary when you hear it from a man!). Not only that, but in looks and appearance, Im rather like Legolas (the elf in the Lord of the Rings, as portrayed by Orlando Bloom) - slim and fair, with little body hair. And since Im very sure Im full of testerone (Im hyperactiveand my wife can also testify to another reason why Im definitely full of testerone), I must possibly have a stronger dose of estrogen in me than most man. Hmmthat perhaps explains the mood swings as well My wife, on the other hand, is considered a hairy woman (for a woman - shes obviously less hairy than any man!). For her case though, I cant tell if its because she has weaker estrogen levels for a woman, or she has stronger testerone levels for a woman. But her sexuality is definitely oriented towards that of a woman, while mine is most definitely towards that of a man, no question about it. By now, astute readers should be aware that our bodily features assigned to masculinity and femininity is due to the balance of male hormones testerone and female hormones estrogen. Most men have very weak estrogen levels, while most women have very weak testerone levels. Men with very strong estrogen levels may develop what the Chinese termed 脂粉味 (literally smelling of perfume). They look very, very feminine and may even develop breasts, for some extreme cases. Historically, such men have been looked down upon and have even created disasters, like Dong Xian, the concubine of a certain Han emperor. Women with very strong testerone levels tend to be of strong build and large sizes. I suspect the Mu Yecha from the Chinese classic Outlaws of the Marsh would be such a character. Again, society tends not to be very accepting of such persons, labelling them butches and so on (more so if they from the military). With the progress of thinking, a more cosmospolitan-outlook and the building of tolerance levels in the world today, we are getting more and more accepting of the androgynous look. The media has built in todays woman a liking for the Sensitive New Age Man - a man who is a prince charming but yet not outwardly macho. Women like Grace Jones, Ella (from Chinese pop sensation S.H.E) and the winners of SuperGirls (in China) Li Yuchun (2005) have become stars in their own right, with millions of fans. Its a good sign. While God has made us man and woman, different and yet complimentary to each other, we should be allowed to express ourselves fully the entire range of human emotions and feelings, and to experience fully the many interactions with our environment. As long as the students understand that it takes more than being macho to be a man, or that a woman can be an engineer as well, I believe Id have done my part as an educator.
