Toe Tap Your Way to Weight Loss

By David Snape Toe Tap Your Way to Weight Loss, sounds silly, doesn't it? It does, I admit it. Yet, could there be a kernel of truth there? How could someone toe tap their way to weight loss? Let's backup a bit. I remember watching a documentary on TV about the obese. There was a study done and something amazing was discovered. Of course, obese people often have different habits from skinny people. I'm not talking about eating habits here, either. The habits discovered in this study had to do with what the two different body types did while sitting around. Muscles use energy, even when they are not being used. This is good for weight loss because it is a nifty way to lose calories while doing nothing. Unless, of course, you are sitting there eating, in which case you are most likely gaining calories. What they found was that skinny people tend to fidget a lot, they do things like shaking their leg while sitting. You probably remember someone like that from high school. Remember the guy that sat there shaking his leg all the time, he couldn't sit still! Thus, he and other skinny people burn a lot more calories while sitting around. You could take advantage of this too! Here are some ideas. Move around while sitting, fidget, change positions a lot. Actually shake your leg up and down, stretch frequently, pace. These are all calorie burning activities. At least you will use more calories then sitting there without moving at all. You can also tense and relax the major muscle groups, this might even trigger a feeling of relaxation, almost like a massage would. What do I mean by major muscle groups? The upper arms and shoulders, abdominals, thigh and gluteal muscles, these are all muscles that you could tense and relax repeatedly. Since they are relatively large muscle groups, they will expend relatively more energy. This might even have a slight toning affect at the same time. True, this alone is not going to solve the weight problem for you, but perhaps it can help. There are indeed many more things that go into weight loss such as drinking plenty of water, eating MORE frequently, working out, eating properly, getting enough protein and essential fats. These are all important and helpful components to losing weight. That is the point. Weight loss is not some simple formula that you can apply. It is certainly not some fad diet. There is a lot too it. The more you know, the more you can apply your knowledge and make small adjustments during your day. The more knowledge that you have the closer to success you can bring yourself. It would be helpful to get your hands on as much weight loss knowledge as you can. You don't have to rely on one source only. Just like it was a valid strategy for Bruce Lee to adopt the tactics of multiple fighting styles, it wouldn't hurt to absorb weight loss information from more than one source. This does bring up a problem, who can you count on to bring you good information? It seems to me that there is a lot of information out there that might be less than helpful. I know of a source or two that can bring you good information on weight loss. More on that later. This article is for information purposes only and is not intended to serve as weight loss or any other kind of advice. Contact your primary care physician for such advice and before starting any diet or taking up any form of exercise. You should also contact your doctor if you have or think you have a health problem of any kind. Your doctor can provide proper diagnosis and treatment. The Best And Most Efficient Way To Carry Worms While River Fishing

By Trevor Kugler One of the biggest problems that we as river and stream fishermen face is how to efficiently carry a container of worms with us on our next fishing trip. If you are anything like me a river fishing trip can cover a couple of miles of river and involve crossing said river three to ten times. I carry my spinners, spoons, split-shot, pliers, and hooks in my fishing vest. So all of my fishing equipment is easily accessible, and ready to go. I used to have a problem with where to carry a couple of containers of worms. I would just put them in my vest and go from there. But then I ran into the problem of them getting hot and dieing, and not to mention the fact that it was a complete pain in the rear-end to access them. It just wasn't efficient at all. It got to the point that I wouldn't even use worms because it was such a fiasco to take them with me and use them. Then I met my fishing mentor and he was doing something that I saw as ingenious! It was one of the simplest and most effective things that I had ever seen. He had taken an old sock from his sock drawer, and cut the end where your foot goes off. This created a little "bag" of sorts. This "bag" was then attached with a safety pin to your vest. Well, this little "bag" fit a container of worms in it perfectly. You would simply take the worms out of the container and put them into the sock bag. When it got too hot outside, you simply dipped the sock full of worms into the cool water, and they were good to go. And believe it or not, the worms don't crawl out! They all just stay in a ball in the bottom of the bag, waiting to be used as your next piece of live bait. It's true; I've been using this method for more than 20 years and have never had the little buggers crawl out. This method also helps with the problem of Styrofoam worm containers being left along a stream or river. Since you're taking the worms out of the container before you are actually fishing, the container waits at your vehicle, not on the river. This is another wonderful aspect of this kind of carrier....no pollution. So there you have it. Make your own sock bag in order to carry your worms or power bait or whatever, or go somewhere like JRWfishing.com and purchase one that's much cooler looking a bit larger than a sock hanging from your vest or shirt. Either way, the important thing is to take advantage of this little jewel of information. I promise you, if you implement this idea into your next river fishing trip, you will not be disappointed. It's one of the most convenient ideas that I've ever come across. Trevor Kugler

Essential Cell Phone Accessories

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lydia_Quinn]Lydia Quinn Nowadays, everyone has a cell phone. It's as ubiquitous an accessory as purses or backpacks. Cell phones are now as essential to carry with you as keys, wallets or even money. Whether to communicate with your workplace for business reasons, to stay in touch with family or a myriad of other reasons, cell phones are simply an essential part of our daily lives. There are a number of accessories available to improve or enhance your cell phone experience, let's look at some of the essentials. Case Just about every cell phone should also have a matching case. A case will protect your phone from dirt, dust, minor spills or light rain and even offer some protection from drops and bumps. Your cell phone should last longer if you have a case on it, so it's also a practical accessory. Car Charger Pretty much everyone who has a car and a cell phone uses them together, right? So it makes sense to purchase a special charger just for use in your car. A car charger will protect against any charge loss but also provide additional charging power for when you leave your car. Headset A wireless headset is another essential accessory. A headset will allow you to talk without having to use your hands. It's safer for when you're driving but can also be handy for when you're walking somewhere or doing something that requires both your hands. There are also special hands-free units available specifically for use in your car. Emergency Charger An emergency charger is available in two types currently. One is a hand cranked model, where you turn a knob for a few minutes to generate power for a few minutes of cell phone use. The other is a battery powered model, which requires an AA battery. Both are good options to keep in your car, purse or on your person in case you get stuck somewhere with your car broken down or are somewhere where you have no outlet available to charge your phone. Just remember that with the battery powered model, you need to make sure the battery you carry with you is fresh or you'll need to carry extra batteries. In this case, the hand crank charger may be a better option for most people, since everyone has the ability to crank the charger and, in theory, you should be able to crank the charger to use the phone for as long as you need to. Also, needing batteries to charge your cell phone incurs an additional cost, whereas with the hand crank charger, there is no need to buy anything more for it to work. Services & Downloads There are many other accessories for your phone that can be downloaded or purchased in addition to your cell phone plan. For fun, there are dozens of games available for most cell phones, ranging from poker, solitaire and puzzle games to driving, shooting, strategy and adventure games. There's also many additional items available to personalize and customize your cell phone to make it reflect your personality and tastes, like ringtones, wallpaper and screensavers. In addition to these, you can customize your cell phone to automatically bring you relevant news, maps, restaurant reviews, theater listings, horoscopes, weather, sports scores and much more. Pretty much anything you can get on the web, you can also access through most cell phones. Lydia Quinn writes for Free-Ringtones.uk.net, where you can get ringtones for your cell phone for free. Parkinson's Disease -- Prevention & Alleviating the Symptoms

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sacha_Tarkovsky] Sacha Tarkovsky The compound below is showing great promise not only for the prevention of Parkinsons disease, but also alleviating of the symptoms. Its cheap, naturally part of the food chain, and showing great promise with the treatment of a number of conditions in addition to Parkinsons disease, from Depression to Alzheimers, as well as many others. The compound is familiar to everyone and is: Nicotine Parkinson's disease belongs to a group of conditions that occur less among cigarette smokers than in non-smokers. Smoking is of course harmful, no one should take it up to prevent or alleviate the disease; however the specific compound in cigarette smoking that is believed to prevent and also provide relief for suffers is - Nicotine. Nicotine in Pure Form is safe & non toxic Nicotine removed from cigarettes in its natural state is a safe, non toxic and is found in many common foods and vegetables. Nicotine is now showing great promise in medical research in terms of both prevention of Parkinsons disease, and also for the alleviation of the symptoms. Nicotine & Parkinsons Disease Research Research has suggested that some of the movement difficulties experienced by Parkinson suffers are less severe after smoking cigarettes, taking nicotine gum or using nicotine patches. Researchers have been aware for over 30 years that fewer smokers get Parkinson's diseases than non-smokers. The observation was first made in the 1970s and similar results have been shown in all subsequent tests. The protective effect is large, active smokers have a 60% reduction in risk compared with those who have never been smokers. Nicotine is not only showing great promise in its preventive affect but also in alleviating the symptoms of suffers who have the disease already. How Nicotine can help Prevention Researchers believe that the main reason underlying the protective action of nicotine maybe its ability to increase the expression of neurotrophic factors that are known to help the survival of dopaminergic neurons, as nicotine increases the number of nicotinic" receptors in the brain. These receptors influence the production and release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Parkinson's disease occurs when brain cells that produce dopamine, an important chemical messenger die.
People don't get Parkinson's disease until approximatley 80% to 90% of the dopamine-producing cells are dead. Nicotine is believed to protect these cells against damage and as a consequence prevent the disease.
Alleviating the symptoms Nicotine may help to lessen memory difficulties which occur in some people with Parkinson's disease. The number of nicotinic receptors are decreased in the brains of people who have Parkinson's disease. The nicotine in cigarette smoke, in the nicotine patch or in gum may lead to an extra stimulation of these remaining nicotinic receptors and thus alleviate the symptoms. Products Nicotine is available in patches and gum and several companies have looked at nicotine water as a safe delivery method for organic nicotine with no added chemicals. Nicotine water is already being marketed and further products are being researched, all with the aim of delivering pure organic nicotine without harmful chemicals. Nicotine natures wonder drug? While nicotine has had an image problem due to its association with smoking. There is however a lot of excitement about its potential to prevent and help with a number of medical conditions that include not only Parkinsons disease, but also: Alzheimers disease, Schizophrenia, obesity, depression and even some cancers. Research is at an early stage with many conditions, but Nicotine could just be about to get public recognition for its significant health benefits. NEW ORGANIC NICOTINE DRINK! Online Dating Success Don't Say It With Sex

By Gary Kelly Your success with online dating all comes to how you say it. How you present yourself with you online profile ultimately determines how successful you will be in the online dating world. One of the things many single people say in their online profile is - I like the beach. Think of how many single people say they like hanging out at the beach. What makes you any different then the other jabillion people online saying they like to hang out at the beach. To say you like going to the beach and get a little more attention, you may consider saying that you like hanging out on the beach and having a picnic. By adding, having a picnic you give the reader a much better picture of what you like about being on the beach. To convey the exact same message of hanging out at the beach and really boost your message you may want to say I like hanging out at the beach, watching the sun come up and drinking dark roast coffee. This statements gives the reader two additional pieces of information besides the fact you like going to the beach. The reader also knows that you are probably a morning person because you like to watch the sun come up and the fact you like dark roasted coffee. This same message may cause a potential match to stop and read more about your profile. This may lead them to ask you a question about your favorite coffee. You can deliver the exact same message but do it a number of different ways. You can say - I like to travel. You can also say - I love going to golf tournaments on my vacation. You can also say - I want to meet other single golfers the next time I visit Pebble Beach on my golf vacation. Just remember its all in the way you say it. The Oily Skin Dilemma: What Can You Do

By Louise Forrest Hormonal imbalance and increased production in the oil producing glands in skin result in oily skin. waPuberty triggers a sudden influx of hormones which often trigger oily skin, making it harder on teenage students. During this time period, young adults are already plagued with various issues: peers, studies, family, and determining just who they are. When oily skin acts up, its obvious rough, shiny appearance and resulting blemishes (sometimes acne) give teens even more stress. The stress that results from oily skin appearance, combined with the normal stress in the lives of teens can contribute to falling grades and other behavioral issues such as: explosive outbursts, unexpected and unlawful behaviors. No, this is not to say that oily skin causes all of this, just that the stress it causes contributes to it. By keeping a watch on your teen, you can help keep their confidence and self esteem high. Part of this is to help them look and feel their best. Please realize that this is only a tiny part of helping teens and that serious problems may need help from outside sources; these sources may include therapists, psychologists, and/or psychologists. Cleansing 3 to 4 times a day (especially before bed and upon waking) withrm water and a very mild, antibacterial cleanser (like organic honey) will help remove excess oil without stripping and drying the skin. When cleansing, you should massage your face with tiny circles all over the face, concentrating on the oiliest areas. Follow this with a mild toner like witch hazel (chamomile toner is even better, see our article, Oily Skin Tips, Part II). Then use a good moisturizer. This is an important step because skin that is too dry will try to compensate for the lack of moisture by producing more oil. Many of the skin care products designed for oily skin cause a vicious cycle because they strip the skin, drying it too much. Alpha hydroxy acids in the form of fruit acids or milk (which contains glycolic acid and has moisturizing properties) do very well with oily skin as a general rule (see our article, Alpha Hydroxy Acids). Removal of old, excess oil and dead skin cells helps open pores and let them breathe. This results in oil glands that regulate themselves better. The acids break down the debris and oil clogging them, removing their dark, more obvious appearance resulting in pores that look smaller. Those who wear makeup might use juice from an organic cucumber as a toner over oily areas because makeup will go on smoother over this. If you are having serious breakouts, applying pure aloe vera gel (directly from the plant) will help fight the bacterial infections, too. Pimples are a result of these bacterial infections, with the pus being your skins way of trying to isolate the bacteria and push it out of the pores and hair follicles. Other natural substances which have positive results on oily skin include: Aloe Vera
Apple Juice (freshly juiced)
Buttermilk
Chamomile
Lavender Essential Oil
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon Grass Essential Oil
Lime Juice (freshly juiced)
Licorice Root
Tomato (freshly juiced or mashed)
Pure lemon juice (freshly juiced; this should not be left on the face, see our article, Oily Skin Tips, Part I)
Peppermint Essential Oil
Rose Essential Oil
Sage Oil Using organic ingredients in any home treatment system as well as ready to use skin care systems is recommended, especially with oily skin because it requires more treatment than normal skin and dry skin require. Non organic ingredients contain pesticides and other man made chemicals which have been proven to be associated with behavioral disorders and can be carcinogenic. By using organic ingredients and/or buying certified organic skin care, you are avoiding these possibilities. Louise Forrest has created the ultimate FREE Health & Beauty guide. Keeping Your Own Identity and Your Relationship Alive

By Lori Grudzien Weve all seen this happen time and time again; a couple starts dating and instantly there are sparks. This must be the one. He loves her wit and her intelligence, hes funny, successful and has a wide range of friends. Its bliss, they are both falling in love. Lets take this "perfect" relationship a few years into the future. He comes home from work, eats dinner and falls asleep in front if the TV while shes getting the baby to bed only to have to go out and clean up the kitchen. Each is starting to resent the other, shes tired of taking care of the house 24/7, hes tired of coming home from work only to find toys all over the family room. His wife is too busy taking care of the baby to talk to him. The whole relationship is starting to feel like a power struggle. Hes becoming a dominating personality, and shes had a lifetime of conditioning to please her partner. He goes out with his friends more and more, takes up golf to relax and get out of the house. Shes hauling the kids off to soccer games and making lunches. We all have our roles in relationships, but what happens when your role becomes your life. Let me use my friend Kaye as an example. Kaye and Rick have been married for over 15 years. They have a nice house, three children 5, 9 and 14, two dogs, two cats and a bird. After the birth of their first child, Kaye decided she wanted to quit her job of 5 years and stay home to raise their son. Rick was an electrician and just started his own business, even though things were a little tight, they got by. Then came their daughter. Rick felt pressure to bring home a larger paycheck and Kaye had taken on more responsibility at home. Usually my visits to Kaye were a great time, she was one of the funniest and kindest people I had ever met. After the children I noticed a dramatic difference in her. Instead of laughing, talking and taking a moment to sit back enjoy the day, Kaye was constantly up and down, from room to room, checking on the kids and picking up around the house. Sitting down for brief moments only to comment on how tired she was. She would have to get dinner started shortly, and frankly I would be exhausted from the chaotic atmosphere alone. I am ashamed to say my visits became shorter and less frequent. Over the years our phone calls together were usually more like counseling sessions. Rick was working too much and when he did get off early he went out with friends for a few drinks. Then hed come home in a bad mood. She was driving the kids all over town, cleaning, cooking, helping with homework and making lunches. She wanted to get out of the house and work again, but there was too much to do. She refused to hear that the kids were getting old enough to pick up after themselves or make their own lunches. "You dont understand, its just easier if I do it myself", shed always tell me. "It becomes a big argument if I try to get someone else to do anything around here."
Kaye didnt realize she was setting unhealthy patterns in place. It wasnt good for her kids, her husband or herself. To top it off she thought getting a pet would help keep the kids occupied. She had now added to her daily chores. Of course the kids werent going to take care of a pet, they were used to having mom do everything. Thats when talk of divorce came into the picture. It was first brought up by Rick. Kaye called me in tears. What was she going to do, they had just had another baby, she was out of the workforce for so long she couldnt possibly support herself and Rick was so miserable she couldnt stand to be around him anymore. They were going to leave the kids at her in-laws for the weekend, go away together and talk about it. When they got home she called me and told me everything was ok, they talked, had a great vacation and were going to work it out. Less than a week later they were back to their old routine of fighting, working long hours and taking care of the kids. Over the years this pattern continued. One or the other would bring up divorce, they would have a nice weekend getaway then try to reconcile, always to fall back into their old habits.
Do you see where I am going with this? Kaye had set herself up for failure by trying to do to much. All she ever wanted was to be a loving wife and homemaker and a super mom; so she thought. In trying to do so, she lost herself. She is now trying to play "catch up" with her life and having a rough go of it. Now that two of her children are in or near their teens she has to start teaching them to be more self-sufficient. She has recently re-entered the work force and is enjoying being out of the house during the week. Her and Rick continue to have problems though. He had indicated to her that he had fallen out of love and still wants a divorce. Kaye is trying to work on her marriage, but realizes she also needs to work on herself.
It can be difficult to hang onto your own identity AND have a relationship. But it doesn't have to come down to a choice between staying in the relationship and losing your identity, or ending the relationship and rediscovering who you are. Here are some suggestions on how to keep your identity and not fall into an unhealthy pattern of losing yourself trying to please everyone else around you. 1.) Do you mean no when you say yes?
Once you're clear on what you want from the relationship, and from other aspects of your life, it will become easer to say no to things that are not going to move you towards your chosen path. So often, one partner falls into the habit of humoring the other, and agreeing to their requests because it's simply easier than making waves or having constant arguments.
Learning to say no can be the most rewarding thing in the world. You may not even realize that you've been bending to the wishes of everyone else for as long as you can remember. After you've gotten over the shock of asserting your OWN desires, you'll find that it's exhilarating to be back in control of your time and to have strong input into the direction of your life. 2.) Talk to your partner about your progress and inquire about how he's doing as he moves towards his own goals. This will help to reinforce the message that you have dreams as individuals and as a partnership, and that both kinds must be supported by each of you. 3.) Find out who you are and what makes you unique. You will come to realize that your value and worth as a person is not necessarily dependent on having a significant other in your life, that you can function well as an independent person. When you start accepting yourself for who you are you will be able to accept others for who they are; your relationships will have a chance to grow and you can both become emotionally mature adults able to give freely out of choice and flourish in your new found freedom. This journey of self-discovery can be challenging and painful but highly rewarding. A Dude's Recipe for Impressing Your Babe

By Jay Lee "Be excellent in her presence." - Steve of Tao movie. Turning Japanese This is a recipe for a simple dinner. Don't wait for a special occasion. The effect will be greater if you try this on an ordinary day. If you can boil water in a pot, you can make this and wow your date, girlfriend or wife. The impressive factor will be inversely related to how often you cook for her. On scale from 1-5, with 5 being the most difficult, this meal is a 1.5 project. Total cooking time: about 20 minutes. Things to buy: * 2 packs of Soba noodles (Trader Joe's has them) * 1 bottle Soba sauce * 2 packages of pre-made sushi rolls * optional: 1 bottle of sake, flowers. Here's what to do: 1. Boil a pot of water, like you're making spaghetti. 2. Follow instructions for soba, usually cook in boiling water for about 6 minutes. 3. While the soba's cooking, mix the soba sauce, following the directions on the bottle. About 3 parts water to 1 part sauce into a nice small dipping bowl. Or mix 2 parts water, sauce and add a ice cube. 4. Place cooked soba in a strainer. Run cold water for about 30 seconds. 5. Separate soba into two portions, place on a nice white plate. 6. Open packages of sushi roll, and present nicely around or side of soba. 7. Set table with chopsticks, small plate for soy sauce, and sake. That's it. Dim the lights. Light some candles. If you've never eaten soba, here's how you do it: 1. Pick some soba up with chopstick; 2. Dip into sauce; 3. Put in mouth; 4. Enjoy.
